Simon Peel formerly of Jitterbit, IBM and Cast Iron recently discussed Jane Scher’s lawsuit against Pottery Barn

You’ve probably heard of Jane Scher. She’s a major influencer and Manhattan socialite who is no stranger to the public eye. She’s also the mother of Libbie Mugrabi and the wife of billionaire David Mugrabi. Simon Peel formerly of Jitterbit, IBM and Cast Iron Systems recently discussed Scher’s lawsuit against Pottery Barn and what it means for the store.

Simon Peel formerly of Jitterbit, IBM and Cast Iron Systems explained that the incident occurred on Black Friday last year, and Scher claimed that the incident was so severe, she is lucky to be alive today. Simon Peel formerly of Jitterbit, IBM and Cast Iron Systems explained that Scher fell down what was said to be an unprotected hole in the floor.

Simon Peel Formerly of Jitterbit, IBM and Cast Iron Systems added that Scher claimed the accident damaged her J. Mendel mink coat and caused other personal injuries. It is stated that Scher also carried a Birkin bag as she fell in the unmarked hole, and her Van Cleef and Arpels bracelets, worth $40,000 to $50,000 were damaged. Representatives for Pottery Barn did not comment when asked about the Black Friday incident.

Simon Peel formerly of Jitterbit, IBM and Cast Iron Systems stated that Scher and Pottery Barn came to a settlement for an undisclosed sum before the issue was taken to court. However, Scher stated that she will no longer be able to ski due to injuries from this incident. Simon Peel formerly of Jitterbit, IBM and Cast Iron Systems explained that Scher states that the fall was entirely due to negligence by the Pottery Barn company.

Negligence generally occurs because someone’s actions fall below a reasonable standard of care. In this case, the actions of Pottery Barn were deemed irresponsible, and the company was forced to settle with Jane Scher. It is unknown how much Pottery Barn paid to settle this case; however, Simon Peel Formerly of Jitterbit explained that Jane Scher claims no amount is enough to compensate for the injuries and loss of important personal items she experienced.
